A Military Engagement with American Flag
With a love deeply rooted in the stars and stripes of our nation’s flag, this sweet couple is willing to selflessly serve our nation and each other with full hearts. The uniform and flag represent everything Brandon and Amanda are willing to protect, just as Amanda’s parents did before her. “It's about being selfless and a part of something bigger than yourself. It’s home, it’s brave, it's safe, and it's ours!”
Brandon and I met through Air Force ROTC in August 2011. I grew up with parents who were in the Marine Corps, so I knew I wanted to follow in their footsteps one day but chose the Air Force to try to become an officer.
I decided to take part in the new cadet orientation before having to turn in my uniforms after discovering a golf-ball size tumor in my ovary. That was when Brandon signed up for the program! After learning that I would not be able to complete the AFROTC program on time, I thought that I had lost all direction in my life. But then I met Brandon. Brandon was what stayed constant. He always reached out and helped me in more ways than he would ever know. He never let me go, no matter what. Some of my biggest challenges in life so far came right when I met Brandon. However, he's everything that made it good.
Brandon was sent to me by God to help me find my way and help me realize who I was again. Brandon is the sweetest soul I know, and always prays with me. He is everything in life that I know I lack, and I want to do everything I can to be that for him in return.
Brandon has since completed the Air Force ROTC program, which I wrote a letter to him every single day he was at Field Training the summer of 2012, and he is now a Second Lieutenant in the Air Force! I couldn't be any more proud of him and all of the hard work he has done. I will follow him anywhere in the world that the Air Force will take him, and we found out this January that that will be Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany! WOW! We weren't expecting that!
Together we are looking forward to seeing each other continue to grow. I'm looking forward to surprising Brandon when he comes home from work with dinner already made, to making signs for him each time he returns home from deployments to show him how much he's missed, to holding his hand through all his ups and all his downs as he has held mine, to loving him when he doesn't think he deserves it and to spending forever with the best person I have ever known!
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to Brandon and Amanda for selflessly serving and protecting our great nation!
