Cottage Hill Quotes N° 3
It's Valentines week, which means fresh flowers and homemade love notes are on my mind. However, a few Valentines ago, my husband and I had a difficult day. I had been holding on to a lot of ugly - a lot of pain and selfishness that came flying out of my heart. It was ugly.
I will never forget somewhere between the "how come's" and "makes me so frustrated" he just pulled me into his arms and said, "I love you" over all of my complaining. His love covered my pain. His grace covered my selfishness. A few weeks later, I was able to do the same for him when he had an exceptionally difficult day.
Love does not eliminate the ugly. We are human and will always have hard days and difficult moments. But marriage is about seeing, experiencing and feeling all that ugly and loving the person anyway because you love the whole person. At least that's what my husband has taught me. It's not always pretty, but it is so so good to be loved, wholeheartedly.
